        About Me

My name is Benjamin Potter.  I am the elementary music teacher at Boston Ave. Charter School.  I earned my bachelors degree in music education at Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa, GA.  I am excited to be teaching the subject I love the most, music.  Some of my experiences have been playing brass in a marching band and jazz band, singing in a mixed choir and a mens choir, leading a small vocal ensemble that toured the eastern U.S., playing guitar for 19 years, and piano for 16 years.  I have also had the opportunity to teach music at all grade levels, from middle to high school band to elementary general music.

        Classroom Rules

Each day your child has music I will be putting either a star in their planner if they had good behavior, or a check in their planner followed by the rule number that they were having trouble with if they were struggling in class that day.
        My rules are:
        1. Stay in your seat
        2. Do not touch the curtain, instruments, or anything else without permission
        3. Keep your hands and feet to yourself
        4. Raise your hand to speak or get permission
        5. Follow all other school rules.
For more information click here to view a presentation explaining my classroom rules including my rewards and consequences.  Push the forward arrow in the presentation to view the next piece of information.

        Virtuosos of the Week!

Each week I will select students who exhibit the utmost musicianship to be my virtuosos of the week.  Virtuosos show musicianship by staying on task, following classroom rules and showing improvement in performing musical tasks.  The names of the weekly virtuosos will be displayed on my bulletin board and under each grade level on my website.
